Tour Description

Topkapi Palace was the primary residence and administrative center of the Ottoman Empire for more than half of its history. This is where the Sultans lived and ruled one of the greatest empires of all time. Today, the Harem, with its private chambers, including bedrooms, hammams, living rooms, the Imperial Council, the Royal Kitchens, the Ceremonial Courtyard, and much more is accessible to the public. The palace is so big that it takes almost a full day to experience that it has to offer.

Harem

The house of sultans, the residential palace. Harem, which literally means "forbidden" in Arabic, is the forbidden part of the palace. No one could enter the Harem except the Sultan and his family, and their servants. Hundreds of concubines, guards and eunuchs served the sultanate for hundreds of years.

Exhibitions

The Topkapi Palace isn't just a palace with decorated rooms, it's a proper museum with many incredible exhibitions. The treasury with jewels and thrones, armory with ceremonial weapons and banners, royal kitchen, and the most unique of them all, the Holy Relics exhibition with belongings of prophet Mohammad, Moses, Abraham and many others.

Imperial Council

The Imperial Council is where the Ottoman Empire was ruled from for hundreds of years. All the history changing decisions regarding war, riots, law and diplomacy were discussed in this room before they were presented to the Sultan's approval. This is where history was written and recorded.
